Lois Ailiene Riley, 87, of Pittsburg, passed away at 12:36 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at Via Christi Hospital. She was born February 22, 1925, at Franklin, KS, to William J. and Nora (Hutchinson) McQueen. She graduated from Arma High School in 1942 and attended Business College for 2 years. On August 15, 1942, she married Walter Jon Riley at Carthage, MO. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1994. Mrs. Riley worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Robinson for 15 years and then she worked as a sales clerk at Bob’s Shoe Warehouse for 10 years. She retired in 1986. Lifetime membership was held in the First United Methodist Church, where she was quite active in many church groups, especially the Five Mary’s Circle. She was also involved in the Progressive Study Club. She enjoyed being around her family and friends. She also loved being surrounded by her family at their many gatherings. Survivors include two daughters, Shayne Anderson and her husband Barry of Frontenac, KS and Robin Sloan of Arma, KS; three grandchildren, Sean Anderson, Amanda Galindo, and Piper Sloan; five great grandchildren, Keaton and Noah Galindo, Lucy, Nora, and Greta Anderson. She is preceded in death by her husband, two infant twin daughters, Sherry and Sandra, her parents and a sister-in-law, Wanda Stout. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Ellie Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Wesley House and/or the Mt. Carmel Foundation. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
