Elsie L. (Ulbrich) Milleman, 80, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away at 3:42 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS. She was born July 7, 1932 near Newton, KS, the daughter of Otto G. and Annie (Stevenson) Ulbrich. Elsie lived in Newton, KS, until the age of 5 and her family then moved to a farm southeast of McCune, KS. She graduated from McCune Rural High School without missing a day. In June 1950, she started nursing school at Mt. Carmel Hospital, graduating in 1953. On July 7, 1955, she was united in marriage to Lewis N. Milleman Jr. at the Baptist Church in Weir, KS. He survives at the home. Mrs. Milleman was a registered nurse at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center for thirty-nine years, retiring in April 1995. Elsie was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #117, Kent Chapter of Weir, Kansas and also served as treasurer. She attended the First Christian Church in Pittsburg. Survivors include her husband, Lewis N. Milleman of Pittsburg, KS; a son, Steven A. Milleman and his wife Deborah of Wichita, KS; four sisters, Georgia Mattox and her husband Carl of Miami, FL, Eileen Powell and her husband Loren of McCune, KS, Barbara Caughron and her husband Glenn of Valley Center, KS, and Virginia Lanier of Newton, KS; two grandchildren Kali and Ashlie Milleman of Wichita,KS, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Michael Lewis Milleman; sisters, Julia Miller and Marjorie Pape; brothers Frank and Charles Ulbrich. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday (Feb. 18) at the Brenner Mortuary with Reverend Michael Hart officiating. The Order of the Eastern Star #117, Kent Chapter of Weir, KS, will conduct rites on Monday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday (Feb. 18) at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may also call from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
