Norma Jean Andrew

Norma Jean Andrew, 84, of rural Pittsburg left this life at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 to be with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. Norma was born September 1, 1929 at McCune, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Thompson) Shanholtzer. She grew up in McCune. She resided at the family home in rural Pittsburg for 54 years. On January 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Alfred Andrew in Parsons, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1994. Norma worked at Mt. Carmel Hospital and then at USD #250 for 25 yrs, before retiring in 1997. Membership was held in the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Survivors include a son, Fred Andrew of rural Pittsburg; two daughters, Debbie Hall and Jonita McCarley both of Pittsburg; one son-in-law, David McCarley also of Pittsburg; seven grandchildren, Michelle Crawford, Joseph Andrew, Kelly Didier, Megan Carson, Travis Hall, D.J. McCarley and Shantell Varone; additional survivors include 15 great-grandchildren, Noah, Lauren, Clayton, Caroline, Cheyenne, Natalie, Kaitlyn, Mikaela, Drake, Ethan, Adysin, Aliston, Hailee, Trevor, and Tyler; and a sister, Roberta Nutt.. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son, Doug Andrew, daughter-in-law, Donna Andrew, and two brothers, Charles Shanholtzer and Bill Shanholtzer. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday (Oct. 21) at Brenner Mortuary with Fr. William Wolff officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Milleman, Bill Johnson, D.J. McCarley, Joseph Andrew, Ross Varone, Kevin Crawford, and Travis Hall. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday. The family suggests memorials to S.E.K. Humane Society. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
