Carrol Tackkett Obituary

Carrol June Tackkett was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend during her 78 years of life. She passed away in her home at 10:51pm on Friday, December, 31, 2021 surrounded by her family. Nothing was more important to her than her faith and her family.

She was born January 7, 1943, in Pittsburg, Kansas to her loving parents, Erbert and Irene Burnett. As a nine-year-old girl, Carrol decided to place her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She became a member at South Broadway Baptist Church and as an adult, she taught preschool, Sunday school and served as the nursery coordinator. She loved children and they loved her as well.

Carrol attended Pittsburg public schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1961. She attended Pittsburg State University for two years and was involved with the Baptist Student Movement organization on campus where she met the love of her life, Richard Tackkett. Carrol and Richard were married on May 31, 1964 at South Broadway Baptist Church. Together they had five children, fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Carrol loved to cook, work on crafts and laugh. She had a great voice and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She liked the smell of cinnamon and the warmth of a fire. She always had time for a late-night movie and baking sweets. Burgers with Papa Richard were a special treat for her and she loved big family get-togethers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Mark, infant brother David and great-grandson Maverick.

She is survived by her husband Richard Tackkett and their children: Angela Mooney and husband Craig, Eric Tackkett and fiancé Valerie, Sherry Gonzales, Kendra Tackkett, and daughter-in-law Kendra Sue; and sister Kem Burnett and fiancé David.

She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Kyle and wife Romy, Heather and husband Marvin, Ashley and husband Stephen, Kaitlin and fiancé Jimmy, Kaleb, Nathan, Logan, Garret and fiancé Adeline, Daniel, Heidi and husband Justin, Haley, Tyler, Jennifer and Blayne; and great-grandchildren: Holden, Hayden, Charlotte, Abel, Cole, Leah, Jacob, Hannah, Ben, Maddox and Abigail. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly!
