Harold Beasley Obituary

Harold Lloyd Beasley, 99, of Pittsburg, Kansas died Thursday morning November 10, 2022. Lloyd was born November 30, 1922, in Pittsburg to Frank and Marie (Davidson) Beasley.
Lloyd attended Pittsburg High School and began his career with Kansas City Southern Railway (KCS) one day before his 18th birthday in 1940. His 43-year career with KCS was interrupted when he joined the US Army to fight in WWII. He served overseas in Europe for three years, including participation in the Normandy campaign. In December 1945 he was honorably discharged from the Army and returned home.
A few years after returning home, Lloyd was in a car accident that landed him in the hospital. It was there that he met the love of his life, Ellen Marie Hutsey. They were married October 8, 1949 and enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage until Ellen Marie passed away in 2012. Lloyd was a devoted and caring father for his five children who survive him: Barbara (Don) Morrison, Bill (Margaret) Beasley, Bob (Becky) Beasley, Jeff (Flora) Beasley and Bryan (Kim) Beasley. They were blessed with 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Lloyd was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother Keith (Buddy) Beasley.
Lloyd was also blessed with several nieces, nephews and other family members who called him often, sent cards, and dropped by for visits, occasionally including a beverage out on the porch. He loved them and greatly appreciated their love and thoughtfulness.
Lloyd’s faith was the core of his life, he served as a Eucharistic Minister, usher at mass and was a member of perpetual adoration. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving a term as Grand Knight, Rotary, and the Colgan Quarterback Club, for which he took tickets for many years at Colgan football and basketball games.
He enjoyed fishing, and began playing golf more after he retired, having three hole-in-ones at Four Oaks. He and Ellen had a great group of friends with whom they went camping, the horse races, traveling the United States and enjoying just being together.
