John "Buddy" Terry Obituary

John "Buddy" William Terry, 87, died un-expectantly at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Ks on May 17, 2021.

He was born on September 26, 1933 in Byron Oklahoma, the son of Willie and Goldie (Kirkman) Terry.  Buddy graduated high school and served in the Army from 1953- 1955 in Germany post WW2.  Before going to Germany, he married his sweetheart Minnie Bennett on February 11th, 1954; Spending 67 years together.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie of the home; a daughter, Diane Koch (Casey) of Pittsburg; grandchildren: Kyndra Burgess (Kyle), Shayne Bicknell, Kody Bicknell (Cassie) Shelby Bicknell; a son; Randy Terry (Sarah) of Apple Valley, MN;  grandchild, Tyler Terry (Kelsey); 7 great grandchildren: Elle, Jett, Piper, Kage, Cohwyn, Breckyn, and Jane.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Johnston and many other siblings. 

Dad was a faithful child of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and a prayer warrior with his beloved wife, Minnie.  He was an Electrician by trade and served as the Utility Superintendent for the City of Girard, Ks. for over 20 years.  

A combined visitation is planned for Thursday evening (May 20) from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Brenner Mortuary.  The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday May 21, 2021 at PITNAZ Church, 816 E Quincy St, Pittsburg, KS 66762, officiated by Jim Sukraw.  The service will be live streamed at www.brennermortuary.com through Buddy's obituary page.  A private family graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm at the National Cemetery, 900 East National Avenue, Ft. Scott, Kansas, 66701. Graveside military services will be provided by the Kansas Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors.

In lieu of flowers, Buddy & Minnie would like to have gifts in his memory to the Children's Ministry of PITTNAZ church, of which they were faithful members for over 34 years.  Arrangements provided by Brenner Mortuary, 114 E 4th St, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
