Melva Deane (Williams) Malcolm

Melva Deane Malcolm, 94, of Pittsburg, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Via Christi Village.

She was born January 20, 1928 at Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse E. and Leona L. (Talley) Williams. She attended local schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School.

On July 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ralph Malcolm at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2005.

In 1950, she and her husband, along with her late parents, Jesse E. and Leona L. Williams, built and operated the Sunset Motel on Langdon Lane as a partnership.

She attended the First Christian Church.

Survivors include a nephew, Scott Malcolm and his wife, Debbie of Joplin, Missouri; and close friends, Judy and Carl Wood of Pittsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two nephews and a niece.

A Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday (October 17) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Dustin Morris officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday to sign the register book at the Brenner Mortuary.  The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church.
