Alvin Lowe Obituary

Alvin Eugene Lowe Jr., 72, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on February 12, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg.

Alvin was born on July 18, 1953, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Alvin "Bud" Lowe and Juanita Dalphine Richards. He attended Mulberry and Northeast High Schools before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1971. Following his honorable discharge in 1975, he attended Pittsburg State University.

On June 12, 1978, Alvin was united in marriage to Nancy Cauthon in Miami, OK. Together, they shared 47 years of marriage and raised two children, while serving as an influential presence in the lives of many others. Alvin was a hard worker, spending years in the coal mines near Mulberry and Pittsburg. Before retirement, he served as a maintenance technician for Beverly's and Via Christi Village.

Alvin was a man of many passions. He enjoyed raising tropical fish, collecting antiques, and working on cars. He was happiest when fishing with his son and grandsons, helping his daughter tackle unfinished projects, or simply being surrounded by those he loved. He was a proud grandfather and a faithful member of the Pittsburg Baptist Temple.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, of the home; a daughter, Casey Stewart and her husband Cameron of Oswego, KS; a son, Nathan Lowe and his wife Danielle; and two brothers, Arthur and Marc Lowe; and two sisters, Marilyn VanKirk and Dianne Neal.

Alvin's legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Gabriella and Christian Stewart; Courtney Douglas; Michael and Clarissa Parker; Trenton Thomas; Jasmine and Reyhanna Pinckney; Devon Grosstephan; Kaleb and Jakob Lowe; and Chris and Lorna Hutcheson; as well as his great-granddaughter, Ada'Lynn Rose Mae Hutcheson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Coletta Pitts and Lori Hamilton; and his son-in-law, Rick McGuire.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, February 19th, 2026, at Brenner Mortuary with Janice Schwing officiating. Burial will follow at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
