Antonio Ortiz, 97, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on February 02, 2025, at Medicalodge South of Pittsburg.
Antonio was born on February 11, 1927, to Julio and Claudia (Suarez) Ortiz in Goree, Texas. He graduated from Argentine High School in 1945. Antonio enlisted in the United States Army in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1947. On August 4, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lilia Munoz in Kansas City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2020. Antonio and Lilia lived in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Pittsburg in 1964. Antonio worked for McNally's Manufacturing and the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, KS.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna Ortiz of Pittsburg, KS; two sons, Joseph Ortiz of Lawrence, KS, and Brian Ortiz of Pittsburg, KS; and 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons Steven Ortiz and Edward Ortiz, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
According to Antonio's wishes he has been cremated. Burial will take place at a later date in the Fort Scott National Cemetery. The family suggest memorials be given to Wreath's Across America. These can be mailed to or dropped of at Brenner Mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
