Arlene Rooks, 86, of Pittsburg, passed away at 8:23 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Guest Home Estates in Pittsburg.
Arlene Rooks was born to Arthur William and Nettie Marie (Dawson) Pierce at Walnut, Kansas on October 5, 1936. She graduated from Girard High School and continued her education at college.
She was married to Estel S. Rooks, Jr. in 1960 and later divorced.
She was employed for Labette County Social Welfare Department, Parsons, KS; Western Electric, Reno, NV; Freeto Construction Co., Pittsburg, KS; Annshire Garment Co., Pittsburg, KS; and Social Rehabilitation Services, Pittsburg, KS from which she retired in 2001.
She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association in Pittsburg and later of Joplin for 41 years. She was also a member of AARP #646 in Pittsburg.
She is survived by one son, Terry Rooks of Pittsburg; one granddaughter, Stephanie; and one brother, William (Bill) Pierce of Arvada, CO.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Vanderpool and a brother, George Pierce.
A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the St. Aloysius Cemetery at Greenbush. Please consider making a donation to St. Aloysius Historical Society.
