Barbara Egerer Obituary

Barbara Anne Egerer, 68, of Pittsburg, KS, passed peacefully away on December 06, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Pittsburg, Kansas. Being quite strong-willed Barbara, far exceeded her cancer diagnosis life expectancy, amazing her doctors, but not those who knew her.

Barbara was born on February 5, 1957, to Willie D. (Chief) and Mary R. (Rudolph) Martin in Port Smith, Virginia.

Barbara started her long career with Concorde Career Institute in Jacksonville Florida. First as a medical assistant student. Then into a doctor's office for a few years when Concorde, having remembered her as an extraordinary student called and asked if she would consider teaching there. Always ready for a new challenge Barbara eagerly accepted. The next step on the ladder would then be moving up as Program Director. It would be her position as Academic Dean, though that Barbara found most fulfilling as it utilized all her talents. Barbara thrived on problem solving. She supported and guided over ten thousand students into rewarding medical and dental careers. Barbara nurtured a loyal work environment with integrity, respect, and a heavy dose of laughter. Her door was always open, although those with chocolate did get to move ahead of the line.

Barbara loved working in her yard, genealogy and helping others. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by three sisters, Mary Beth Gladish of Pittsburg, KS, and Kathleen Strasser (Jeff) of Girard, KS. Joanne Martin of Pittsburg, KS and two brothers, Billy Martin of Macedon, NY, and Joseph Martin of Norfolk, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A private burial was held in the St. Francis Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the S.E.K Humane Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
