Barbara Plummer Obituary

Barbara Lynn (Morain) Plummer was born January 9, 1951 in Enid, Oklahoma to Donald Wayne Morain and Waunita Caroline (Coats) Lollar. She graduated from Caprock High School in Amarillo, Texas, in 1969. Afterwards, earning her LPN nursing degree from Amarillo College in 1973. Barbara worked in multiple careers as a nurse including, emergency room, floor, OB, surgery, private practice, EMT, and geriatrics. For over 40 years Barbara passionately dedicated herself to treating every patient as if they were family. She was well known for her immense empathy and care for everyone who came across her path.

Outside of nursing, her other great love was spending time with her 4 children and family and her dogs. Barbara married Kenneth L. Plummer on November 19, 1998 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They moved to Pittsburg, Kansas shortly thereafter and bought a small home in the country. They spent the remainder of their marriage together enjoying the country sunsets. Barbara’s siblings and children fondly remember her wonderful gift for cooking, dancing and making people laugh. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and sewing in her spare time. was a believer from a young age and walked with Christ throughout her whole life. Throughout her life Barbara showed great perseverance and integrity while enduring many hardships and trials.
Barbara was preceded in death by both of her parents Donald Morain and Waunita Lollar, husband Kenneth Plummer, and sister Donna Cherry.

She is survived by her children, Tamara Jones and husband David of Scottsbluff Nebraska, Angela Branigan and husband Shayne of Memphis, Texas, Curtis Switzer and wife Cherel of Olathe, Kansas and Brett Switzer of St. Louis, Missouri, her late husband’s children Chris and John Plummer and their families, sister Rita Conway of Midwest City, Ok, brother Ronald Morain and wife Audrey of Brazoria, Texas, 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, mother in law Joann Plummer and sister in law Linda, brother in laws Ernest (Sonny) Cherry and Jim Plummer and families and numerous other longtime family and friends and lastly her beloved dogs Milo and Lady.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday (April 9) at the Mound Valley Cemetery, near Mound Valley, KS, with Pastor Ben Scott officiating.
