Bill J Verga

Bill J Verga Sr., 87, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on April 01, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Bill was born on July 8, 1935, to Joseph and Alice Mae (Harper) Verga in Burgess, Missouri. He married Rosetta M. Jones on December 10, 1955, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS. After 65 years of marriage, Rosetta preceded him in death on June 1, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer's during which Bill was her constant caregiver. In 1960, Bill started Verga Construction, leaving a legacy in the countless homes he built throughout Southeast Kansas in his 40 years in business. Bill could never officially retire and continued helping his son, Billy, at Verga Custom Woodworking until his passing. Bill's greatest achievement was being Grandpa and Paka to his granddaughters and great-grandchildren. He built many playhouses, dollhouses, and other projects throughout his life, just to see the smiles on his granddaughters' faces. He and Rosetta were dedicated fans, never missing the opportunity to cheer on their "little nailbenders" at various sporting events.
He is survived by beloved son Billy Verga Jr. and wife Kim of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren Annie Varsolona and husband Ryan of Frontenac, KS, Charli Stroud of Pittsburg, KS, Jenna Verga of Pittsburg, KS and Sara Verga of Salem, OR; great-grandchildren Ace, Jaxon, Bella and Gio Varsolona and Frankie and Stiles Stroud. He also leaves behind his much loved yorkie, Daisy, who was his constant companion, riding shotgun in his truck wherever he'd go.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Maggie Davis, John Verga, Katherine Viranda, Alex Verga, Edith Marchello, Jack Verga, Dolly Inman, and an infant brother, Joe Verga.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Brenner Mortuary with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS. The family suggests memorials be made to Habitat for Humanity or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
