Bob Remington

Bob Remington, 87, a long-time resident of Pittsburg, passed away August 20, 2021, at the family home in Broken Arrow, Okla.

Bob and the former Mary Thornberry, a Pittsburg native, were married for 66 years. She survives, plus son Greg of New York City, daughter Carrie Krause of Broken Arrow, and granddaughters, Alynna Hillman and Hadyn Krause, of Tulsa.
Bob was born March 18, 1934, in Chetopa, Kan., to James and Laura Remington. He was preceded in death by his parents and four older siblings: Wayne Remington, Helen Dyer, Wilma Dean Masquelier and James Remington, Jr.
Bob attended Pittsburg High School where he was a decorated three-sport athlete in football, basketball and track and field. He graduated from PHS in 1953 before serving in the United States Marines during the Korean War.
Bob spent nearly 40 years as a skilled carpenter, the final 10 years in the cabinet shop at Pittsburg State University. A widely-respected builder and craftsman, one of the family’s proudest moments was the home Bob (and a few friends) built on South Homer just a short walk to the PSU football stadium and basketball arena – their residence for 20 years.
Bob enjoyed attending Pitt State and Pittsburg High football and basketball games with family and friends and a good poker game with his “buddies.” He was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas Jayhawks and especially enjoyed attending the NCAA Final Four every year from 1999-2006.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021, from 10-11 AM at Brenner Mortuary followed by funeral services at 11 AM with Randy Shaddox officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
