Bobbie Ann Oehme (Chancey), 92, died on January 23, 2026, at home in Pittsburg, Kansas, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Charlie and Bobbie Chancey, Bobbie moved with her family to Pittsburg in 1936 after her father purchased Harry’s Cafe. While she spent the rest of her life calling Pittsburg home, Bobbie enjoyed traveling across the country, including New York City and Las Vegas, where she hit more than one jackpot.
Although, if you asked Bobbie, she would tell you that she hit the jackpot in life, too.
Bobbie met and married the love of her life, Leonard “Chick” Oehme in 1953. They spent 69 years together before Chick’s passing in 2022. Together, they had two children, Tim and Cheri, who they raised in Pittsburg on Oehme Farms. The two took many trips to Las Vegas to play the slots and bet on sports, watched countless Royals, Chiefs, and Pitt State games, and enjoyed time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
After graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1952, she attended Kansas State College (now Pittsburg State University), where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha. She later went on to work at the college in the administration office and retired as executive secretary in 1997. In retirement, she spent much of her time with family, friends, reading, enjoying a glass of White Zinfandel, and volunteering as a lifetime member of the Mt. Carmel Ladies Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by husband Leonard (Chick) Oehme; her mother and father; and her brother, Charles Chancey Jr.
She is survived by her brother, Jerry Chancey of St. Louis, son Tim Oehme (Trish) of Pittsburg, and daughter Cheri Griffith (Tim) of Parkville, as well as four grandchildren, Dustin Oehme (Erica), Kristen Randall (Brandon), both of Pittsburg, Jordan Griffith (Carlos) of Madrid, Spain, and Stephanie Nagl (Matt) of Mission, KS. They gave Bobbie 6 great-grandchildren, with two more expected later this year.
