Charles Arbuckle, Sr. Obituary

           Charles Eugene Arbuckle, Sr., 92, of Pittsburg, passed away at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Medicalodge of Frontenac.

            He was born June 20, 1930 at Pittsburg, the son of David Earl and Nora Frances (Rasnic) Arbuckle. After his mother passed away, Charles was raised by his grandparents, Charlie and Mary Rasnic. He graduated from Pittsburg High School and later received a woodworking degree.

            On August 12, 1950, he was united in marriage to Leola May Swift in Pittsburg. She survives at the family home.

            Mr. Arbuckle served in the United States Army during the Korean War for 18 months.

            He worked for Town Talk Bread in Joplin, Faddlers Produce, Monsour’s Produce and then Marrone’s Produce until he retired on June 20, 1991.

            After retirement, they moved to Grand Lake where he went to work at Shangri La golf resort and took up playing golf. He also loved to bowl and was on several bowling leagues.

            Membership was held in the Pittsburg American Legion Post #64 for 64 years.

            In addition to his wife, Leola, he is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Shipman of Frontenac; a sister-in-law, Alice Arbuckle of Pittsburg; two grandchildren, Justin Michael Shipman (Sarah) and Michelle Ann Shipman (Austin); and 5 great-grandchildren, Maddison Michelle Jones, Sophia Rosanne Bell, Cameron Michael Raider, Noah Michael Shipman and Isaac Raider.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Pamela Sue Arbuckle, a son, Charles Eugene Arbuckle, Jr, a brother, Robert Earl Arbuckle, a sister, Betty Irene Swartz, and a half-sister, Daveita Kay Findley.

            A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (August 10) at the Mt. Olive Cemetery with Pastor Daryl Gaddy officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 to sign the register book at the Brenner Mortuary.  The family suggests memorials to the College Education Fund for the great-grandchildren.
