Charles "Chuck" Heckert Bayles Obituary

Charles “Chuck” M. Heckert Bayles, 66, of rural Weir, Kansas, passed away at 4:34 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at his home.

Chuck was born April 8, 1958 in Pittsburg to James A. and Marjorie (Gray Guillenwater) Heckert. He graduated from Pittsburg High School and later from Pittsburg State University.

On March 15, 2024, he married Brenda Bayles in Frontenac. Chuck and his wife Brenda wrote a paper together in 2024, on genetics, that was accepted by Scientific Reports Journal.

Chuck owned and operated Heckert Construction and Double J Energy.

Chuck was a workaholic. He enjoyed traveling in the mountains, going to Nascar and Formula One races. If it had to do with science, chemistry or physis, Chuck studied it and knew all about it. When he did relax, he enjoyed listening to classical music and eating popcorn.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bayles Heckert of the home; two sons, Bryce Heckert of Frontenac and Dallas Heckert of Pittsburg; two daughters, Myranda Heckert of Weston, Missouri and Haleigh Heckert of Arma, KS; step-son, Ralph Bayles of Scranton, KS; three step-daughters, Kali Bayles-Spire of Weir, Joan Bayles-Burgett of Wasilla, Alaska, and Tesla Bayles of Toronto, KS; a brother, Roger Heckert of Pittsburg; two sisters, Diane Garner and Barbara Dewy, both of Pittsburg; thirteen grandchildren, Alexandria Talley, Garrett Robison, Blake Blevins, Daton Blevins, Brock Heckert, Ryder McMasters, Bentley McMasters, Skyler McMasters, Sebastian McMasters, Hayden McMasters, Kaden Heckert, Brantley Heckert and Shelbii Heckert; nine step-grandchildren, Chrysabelle Bayles, Rivers Bayles, Nevaeh Bayles, Korben Stout, Iris Glasgow Bayles, Clyde Bysfield, Hugh Bayles-Davis, John Bayles-Davis, and Ember Bayles; and two great-grandchildren, Peighten Crawford and Averei Pempin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Janis (Mortan) Heckert, and a sister, Darla Mitchell.

A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 28) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Daryl Gaddy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
