Charley Lynn Scholes, 22, of Chanute, Kansas, formerly of Pittsburg, passed away at Saturday evening, December 17, 2022 at her home.
She was born August 31, 2000 at Girard, Kansas, to Douglas Sr. and Rebecca (Fincher) Scholes. She attended grade school and junior high school in Pittsburg and graduated from Chanute High School in 2018. Following graduation, Charley attended Neosho County Community College where she studied nursing.
Charley worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide for several nursing homes in Chanute.
When she lived in Pittsburg, she attended FLAG church. In high school, she enjoyed singing and playing the flute in the band. She also participated in track and volleyball. But most of all, Charley loved her two babies, Bella and Ava.
Survivors include her two daughters, Isabella Compton and Ava Boudreaux; her aunt and uncle, who adopted her, Janet & Jerry Scholes; three brothers, Curtis Scholes, Brandon Scholes, and Douglas Scholes, Jr.; six sisters, Holly Robarts, Ashley Scholes, Courtney Scholes, Jeri Anne Scholes, Amber Fox, and Sabrina Scholes; her grandmothers, Pamela Howell and Cora Seat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jacob Gobl, and a sister, Chasity Scholes.
A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday (December 27) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Elm Cemetery, north of Columbus. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Brenner Mortuary. Charley’s service will be livestreamed on www.brennermortuary.com under her obituary page. The family suggests memorials be given to the Children’s Education Fund. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
