"Debbie" Mary Deborah Montemurro Obituary

Mary Deborah Kay (Westhoff) Montemurro “Debbie” while surrounded by loved ones passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 8:25 p.m. at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin Missouri.

Mary Deborah was born April 19, 1953 in Pittsburg, Kansas. As the oldest child and daughter of James Bernard and Collen Marie (Deruy) Westhoff she was named Mary after both her grandmothers although her family and close friends knew her as Debbie.

Debbie often helped in her grandparent’s furniture store Deruy’s of Pittsburg and graduated from Colgan High school in 1971 where she was Homecoming Queen her senior year.  She moved to the Tulsa/Muskogee area for 25 years before returning to Pittsburg in 1999 to take care of her mother, Colleen.

Debbie had one child, her daughter Jennifer (Wright) Jameson with her then husband Eddie Wright but would eventually marry her best friend Tommie Montemurro on December 07, 2002, in Miami Oklahoma.

As a young professional Debbie worked in human resources for many years.  Never shying from a challenge Debbie took her work ethics and determination and became a licensed hairdresser working her way through college while donating her time and skills to senior citizens.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church was where she attended services and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Pittsburg District. Debbie was a dynamic individual that lived an amazing life enjoying time with family and friends she loved shopping, dining, and being active.

Debbie’s husband Tommie, parents, and grandparents have been anxiously waiting her arrival in heaven and have prepared her homecoming with love and open arms.

Debbie will be the best of guardian angels watching over her daughter; Jennifer Jameson and her husband, Jeremy of Frontenac; her grandson, Austin Carpenter; and great-granddaughter, Cheyenne; two step-daughters, Tammy Pinley and her husband, John and step-grandchildren Tyler and Jake; and Jannette Lykins and her husband, Kelly and step-grandchildren Mariah, Haiden, and Morgan; two great-step granddaughters, Gwendolyn and Hudson; two step-grandsons, Cole and Mason Jameson; two brothers John Westhoff and his wife, Kelly; Danny Westhoff; and a sister, Rebecca Stansberry and her husband Larry; multiple nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; with numerous friends.

A Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (March 20th) with a memorial graveside service to follow at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery with Fr. Jerome Spexarth  officiating.  Burial will follow the services.  Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery.  After the service, there will be a Celebration of Life for this wonderful woman held at the Pallucca Event Center.  Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday (March 19th) to sign the register book at the Brenner Mortuary.  Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
