Denis R. Forbes, 64, of Lebanon, Missouri, formerly of Pittsburg, passed away after a sudden illness, Sunday, January 21, 2024 in Conway, Missouri.
He was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on March 22, 1959 to Lowell E. and Nancy M. (Carr) Forbes.
He attended grade school in Pittsburg and Frontenac and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1977.
Following High School, Denis began his career in the construction industry and was employed with Heckert Construction in Pittsburg and Palmer Coal Company near Arcadia, KS. After moving to Lebanon, Missouri, he owned Forbes Truck and Equipment Repair. He was good at his trade and excelled in diesel repair.
On June 7, 2000, Denis was united in marriage to Peggy Owen. They shared twenty-two years of laughter and memories before her passing on August 20, 2022.
He is survived by his daughters, Anna Chatmon (Anthony) of Frontenac, Kansas, Abigail Kirsch of Pittsburg, Kansas, Heather Weddle (Ryan) of Lebanon, Missouri, and Sandi Romero of Springfield, Missouri; two sons, Denis Miller of Pittsburg, Kansas and “adopted son”, Mike Fairchild of Hartville; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with one on the way; his mother, Nancy Forbes of Arma, Kansas; his brother, Doug Forbes (Ellen) of Emmigrant, Montana; two sisters, Linda Poznick of Pittsburg, Kansas and Carol Clark (John) of Arma, Kansas and his significant other, Jill Waterman; his daughter-in-law, Tricia Pettyjohn; his brother-in-law Doyle Standifer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell, wife, Peggy, and a stepson, John Pettyjohn.
Denis loved to go scuba diving and riding motorcycles. He was always searching for adventure. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He liked being outside in the Missouri Ozarks and the beauty it provided. He loved his coffee, and drank coffee all day long. He also liked sweets and kept those treats available as well.
Most of all, Denis loved his family very, very much. The time he could spend with them was valuable to him and the memories he created with them will be treasured for many years to come.
