Evelyn Kay Williamson, 70, of Pittsburg, passed away on March 8th, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg surrounded by her family.
She was born November 22, 1954 in Oswego, Kansas to Carl and Doris (Swearingin) Ekhoff. She graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont. Following high school she attended Pittsburg State University, graduating with her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education.
Evelyn was a public-school teacher in Kansas and Virginia for over 30 years. After retiring, she moved to Pittsburg to be near family, friends, and her much loved Pitt State.
She is survived by her four siblings: Carla (Dennis) Kirk, Larry (Judi) Ekhoff, Jim (Judy) Ekhoff, and Edie (Stephen) Smith; eight nieces and nephews; and 16 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one niece.
No services are planned currently. The family suggests memorials be given to Dream Big Little Ones Association in lieu of flowers. These may be left in care of Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
