Gaylen K. Browning, 74, of Pittsburg, passed away at 10:41 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
He was born November 29, 1950 in Pittsburg, the son of Carl Andrew and Virginia Lee (Crowe) Browning. He graduated from Pittsburg High School. He was a lifetime resident of Pittsburg.
On April 22, 2000, he was united in marriage with his wife, Tina Browning in Bartlett, Kansas.
Gaylen worked at McNally’s for 32 years as a machinist. His hobbies consisted of bowling, fishing, fast muscle cars, and traveling. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sports and musical performances, and he was so proud of every one of them.
He is survived by his wife, Tina; five children, Gina (Bill) Ferris, Jason (Eliza) Sykes, Hobie (Rachel) Brown, Shannon (Jayson) Elias, and Chad (Brittany) Browning. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Sharon “Sherry” and a brother, Gary L. Browning.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday (May 19th) at the Brenner Mortuary. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be given to New Living Faith and Fire Church in Galena. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS. 66762. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital Pittsburg and Joplin, Mercy Ortho, Medicalodge South, and Ascension Village for their care.
