Jack Hoover Obituary

Jack Earl Hoover, 78, of Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away at 8:58 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023 at his home.


He was born September 8, 1944 at Neosho, Missouri, to Edgar Walter and Clete Fern (Parks) Hoover. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1962. On April 13, 1981, Jack enlisted into the United States Army, where he served for twenty-nine years, before retiring. Jack was employed by the U.S. Army and worked for the Missouri National Guard as a CW3 Warrant Officer. Jack received many military awards, including Meritorious Svc (2), ARCOM (2), Army Achievements (2), Army Good Conduct (2) and various other medals and awards. In 1986, he was united in marriage to Joan E. Darlington in Joplin, Missouri. She survives at the family home. Jack enjoyed raising and showing his Paint horses and the farm life. Membership was held in the American Legion Post #13; and the 203rd Engineer Retirement Association.


Survivors include his wife, Joan of the home; a daughter, Christina N. Cramer (Harold) of Collierville, TN; two sons, James W. Hoover of Webb City, MO and John W. Hoover of Neosho, MO; two step-sons, Dr. Christopher Rupar (Stacey) of Joplin, MO and Ryan J. Rupar (Christa) of Springfield, MO; a sister, Frona Hoover of Belton, MO; and five grandchildren, Mikhayla and Lakin Cramer, Kyah, Beckham and Blake Rupar. He was also survived by many friends and family.


He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, and sisters.


A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday (May 18) at the Brenner Mortuary, with John Newberry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of the service at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at a later date in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude's and/or Crawford County 4-H Association. Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary.
