James Giordano Obituary

James Lee Giordano, 82, of Arma, KS, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025 at his home.

James was born April 5, 1943 in Pittsburg, KS to James Carl and Lola Belle (Loomis) Giordano. He attended Pittsburg grade schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School. James joined the U.S. Marine Corps August 1, 1962, and spent the next four years proudly serving his country before he was honorably discharged. On April 26, 1966, James married Edith Lynn Buffington. They were both looking forward to celebrating 60 years of marriage in April.

James worked most of his career as a machinist at McNally Manufacturing of Pittsburg, KS and later retired from Thomas Manufacturing of Girard, KS. He was a part of the American Legion, VFW, and Arma City Council and was a lifelong supporter of the U.S. military veterans, especially disabled veterans. In his free time, James liked to do woodworking, fish, and hunt. He also loved spending time with his family and was so proud of his grandkids. After his retirement, James spent a lot of his time sitting on the bench in his backyard watching the squirrels and birds, or on the front porch waving to all those who passed by. Before her death, their dog, Mandy Sue, was usually sitting right next to him.

James is survived by his wife, Edith Lynn Giordano of the home; his son, James Joseph Giordano of Arma, KS; his daughter, Sherri Oehme (Rob) of Republic, MO; grandchildren, Elizabeth Yount (Aaron) and Bradley Oehme (Baily); and five great-grandchildren; Landon, Brayden, Adelynn, Julianne, Connor, and twin babies on the way. James is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sam Giordano; and sister, Rosalie Siekman.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Chaplain Johnie Adkins officiating.
