Jeanne Plattner Obituary

Jeanne Plattner, 91, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2022 at Oakview Estates in Frontenac, Kansas next to her three loving children and their devoted spouses.

Jeanne was born December 6th, 1930 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Ada & Edward Harris, the youngest of 6 girls. She spent her childhood years in Pittsburg and Arkansas. She graduated from Pittsburg High School and attended Pittsburg Teachers College. She then moved to Virginia, where Jack Webster Thomas was stationed, and they married in Arlington on February 5th 1952. They returned to Pittsburg where they had three children, Terri, Steve and Doug. Jack preceded Jeanne in death in 1972.

While raising their family Jeanne was a florist at the Aloha flower shop owned by her mother. She later worked at McNallys where she met and married Marion Wells in 1978. They designed and built a beautiful home across the street from Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg. Marion passed in 1990. In 1994 she married Vernon Plattner. They spent their twilight years “snow birding” in Florida as members of the Spanish Wells golf course in Bonita Springs, Florida, and their summers in Pittsburg. She enjoyed playing her home golf course Crestwood Country Club and frequenting all casinos in the four-state area. Vern preceded Jeanne in death in 2010. Jeanne was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, and supported them in all their activities and adventures throughout all her life. Jeanne grew up loving roller skating as well as all sports. As she grew older, she developed her love of bowling, golf, cards, bingo, and slot machines. She was known for her ability to entertain, whether it was throwing a party for friends, hosting bridge club, or having family from all corners of the globe over for a night of fun. No crowd was ever too big. Jeanne loved traveling to destinations all over the world, including just to name a few: Canada, China, Australia, New Zealand, and Fairfield Bay resorts all over the United States. She also went on numerous cruises.

Jeanne is survived in by her children Terri & Steve Pearson (Gerringong, Australia), Steve & Stacy Thomas (Pittsburg), and Doug & Karen Thomas (Pittsburg), her grandchildren Mischka Johnson & Chris Seneff (Kansas City), Addie & Alan Clement (Kansas City), Hannah Thomas (Kansas City), Jack Thomas (Kansas City), Sadie & Jordan Bicknell (Pittsburg), Alicia & Adam Nunn (Arma, KS), Jeromy & Hana (North Platte, Nebraska), Candice & Patrick Schiefelbein (Springdale, Arkansas), and Kaleigh & Justin Hobbs (Princeton , Kansas). Her great grandchildren are Emma, Avery, Asher, Kate, and Parker Clement; Thomas and Hudson Bicknell; Brock, Bryce, Kale, and Kiya Nunn; Collin, Faith, Lane, Grant, and Will Schiefelbein; Amelia “Emmie” Thomas, Brynn and Jake Hobbs. Also special to Jeanne were Nancy Meads, Linda Bray, and Sandy Wobbeking.
