JoAnn Biancarelli, 91, of Cherokee, Kansas, passed away peacefully at 6:23 a.m. Sunday, August 6, 2023 in her home.
She was born March 3, 1932 at home, north of West Mineral, Kansas, to Oral T. and Anna (Klier) Lane. She graduated from Crawford Community High School in 1950 where she was the high school Majorette.
On July 2, 1955, she was united in marriage to Louis Biancarelli in Pittsburg, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2000.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Biancarelli worked as a payroll clerk at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant until she retired in 1992. She held membership at Monmouth Trinity Holiness Church, and was fondly known to her grandchildren and countless others as “Baboo”. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She never missed a milestone, large or small, in their lives. Even as time and her health started to fail, she was there at the center of her family with a strong smile. Her greatest joys were being able to see her grandchildren get married and getting to love on her great-grandson.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Brunetti (Larry) of rural Pittsburg; a son, Craig Biancarelli of Cherokee; a brother, Charles Lane of Rosehill, KS; two grandchildren, Caleb Biancarelli (Riley) of Weir; Chloe Ecton (Trevor) of Olathe, KS and a great-grandson, Rowen Lane Ecton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Jack Lane, Bill Lane, Carl Lane and Lyman Lane; and a sister, Shirley L. Sybert.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 10) at the Brenner Mortuary, with Rev. Max Waldon officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee City Cemetery.
