JoAnn C. Lucas, 83, of Pittsburg, passed away at 3:30 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Pittsburg Care and Rehab.
She was born on July 13, 1941 at Chicago, Illinois to Phillip P. and Juanita (Reed) McLaughlin. She graduated from Elmwood High School in Elmwood, Illinois. In June of 2011, she moved to Pittsburg.
On July 5, 1967, she was united in marriage to Norman “Luke” G. Lucas at LeRoy, Illinois. They later divorced. Following, she became a longtime partner with David Rushing until he passed away.
Mrs. Lucas worked as a teller, then the Safe Deposit Box manager for the Jefferson / J.P. Morgan-Chase Banks.
Membership was held in the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Elmwood, Illinois; American Business Women Association of Peoria; State of Illinois Safe Deposit Association; Mt. Carmel Pink Ladies Auxiliary (Now Mercy Blue Ladies), since 2013, serving 8390 lifetime hours; Sr. Bowling League.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Montgomery (Michael) of Pittsburg; two brothers, Michael McLaughlin of Fenton, MO and Stephen McLaughlin of Racine, WI; two grandchildren, Colton Montgomery of Pittsburg, KS and Megan Clinesmith (Tyler) of Buffalo, KS; two great-grandchildren, Marc William and Finley Michael Clinesmith; four nieces, Elizabeth Burman, Christa Cahnovsky, Karen Doss, and Erin Mason; a nephew, Michael Sean McLaughlin; and long-time friend, Sandra Hinton (Jim); and three step-children, Chris Rushing, Michele Butler, and Jim Rushing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John “Buddy” McLaughlin, ex-husband, Luke, long-time partner, Dave Rushing, grandparents, Ed and Geraldine Reed and Phil and Catherine McLaughlin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Brenner Mortuary with Chaplain Pete Mayo officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9th at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Harry Hynes Hospice and/or Mercy Blue Ladies Auxiliary.
