Joanna Plummer, 98 of Pittsburg, KS, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024. She was born November 16, 1925 in Sycamore, KS to Rollen Coats and Lillie M. (Clark) Coats.
She graduated from Mound Valley, KS, school in 1943 and worked at the Kansas Ammunition Plant in Parsons, KS, during World War II. Later she worked at Pittsburg Pottery and Anshire Clothing in Pittsburg.
She married John Plummer on May 3, 1942. He preceded her in death August 1, 1993. They raised four children, three boys, James, Kenneth and Larry, and a daughter, Linda. Joanna held membership in Countryside Christian Church. She was content with being a homemaker, wife, and mother.
Survivors include her son James Plummer (Margaret) of Shawnee Mission, KS. Daughter Linda Marsh (Rex) of Claremore, OK, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, sons Kenneth and Larry, brother Roberts Coats, sisters Wanda Coats and Waunita Lollar, daughters-in-law Peg and Barbara Plummer, 5 nieces, and 1 nephew.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Brenner Mortuary with Don Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Mound Valley Cemetery in Mound Valley, Kansas on Friday at 2:30 PM. A Visitation will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM before the start of the service at the funeral home.
