Judith Reese Obituary

Judith Ann Reese, 78, of Pittsburg, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at ComfortCare Homes in Pittsburg.

She was born November 12, 1945 in Blue Earth, Minnesota, the daughter of George Emerson and Ethelyn Juetta (Tuttle) Schaeffer. The Schaeffer family lived in Houston/Cypress, Texas area until they moved to Moundville, Missouri and attended Bronaugh School. She graduated from Bronaugh High School and later from Pittsburg State University with a degree in Drafting.

In 1967, she was united in marriage to Larry Reese. They later divorced.

Judith worked as a draftsman for McNally Manufacturing and later for Peabody Tech Tank. 

Survivors include a daughter, Dionne Blakemore and her husband, Allen of rural Arma, Kansas; a son Dan Reese and his wife, Amy Manson-Reese of Burlington, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Andrew Blakemore, Vivian Blakemore, and Danson Reese; her two sisters, Janette McCollom and her husband, Jack of Arizona, and Darlene Steen of Indiana, two brothers Donald Schaeffer, and his wife, Jan of Topeka, Kansas, and James Schaeffer and his wife, Sharon of Glen Carbon, Illinois, and brother-in-law, Bill Cliffman of Bronaugh, Missouri; 10 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, George II, and Lloyd Schaeffer and sisters, Bonnie Dragg and Delores Cliffman, niece Janine Crane and nephews, Brad Schaeffer and David Schaeffer.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 10th) at the Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Jim Sukraw officiating. Memorials may be given to the SEK Humane Society. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS  66762.
