Karolyn Kay Bertalotto, 89, of Pittsburg, Kansas passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her daughters.
Karolyn was born on February 26, 1936 in Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Fredrick and Velma (Zimmerman) Glick. She attended school in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1954 where she was Senior Class Vice President and met her future husband, Lewis 'Bert'.
Karolyn earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Pittsburg State University in 1958. She became a kindergarten teacher at George Nettels Elementary while still in college and continued to teach until she became a full-time mother and homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she belonged to several circle groups and volunteered in various positions. She and Bert were married on April 5, 1958 by Dr. Lloyd Rising at the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed 66 years together. She was a member of PEO Chapter IO, Kappa Kappa Iota, Kappa Delta Pi, and former member of Booklovers Club, Neighborhood Sewing Club and Girl Scout Leader.
She is survived by her two daughters Lu Ann Duval (Chris) of Overland Park, KS, and Lora Grooms (Eric) of Augusta, KS; two grandchildren, Neil Duval (Kaitlyn) of Wheaton, IL and Lauren Duval Dobesh (Michael) of Hilton Head Island, SC; sisters-in-law, Linda Glick of Staunton, VA and Marlene Ossana (Jim) of Pittsburg, KS; brother-in-law Don Bertalotto (Donna) of Tulsa, OK; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Karolyn was proceeded in death by her husband, Bert, her parents, Fred and Velma Glick, and her brother, Keith Glick.
She treasured time with her family (especially her grandchildren), making holidays special and cooking delicious homemade meals. She and Bert enjoyed traveling including trips to Italy, Germany, and spending considerable time in San Antonio, TX. She was an avid supporter of Pittsburg State University and Pittsburg State University Athletics.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Daniel Reffner officiating. A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm prior to the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Pittsburg State University Foundation, Inc.
