Lida Fleury Obituary

Lida Carol (Hisle) Fleury passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at St Johns Ascension Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, following a short illness. Lida was born October 1st,1939, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Charles Glen Hisle and Lida (Rock) Hisle. Lida's brother, Paul Hisle (Neldra) lives in Texas.

Lida graduated from College High School in 1957, and married Stephen Hart that same year. Together they had four children, Glen Stephen Hart, who preceded her in death, Cheryl Hart of Kimberling City, Missouri, George Hart (Dixie) of Littleton, Colorado, and Jay Hart (Terri), of Pittsburg, Kansas. They later divorced. Lida married Donald Fleury Sr and together they had a son, Donald Fleury Jr (Carrie) of Ozark, Missouri. Lida also raised her granddaughter, Alecia Hart of Topeka, Kansas. Lida had 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Following the death of her best friend, Tana French Russell, Lida and Don helped raise Tana's four youngest children, Sara, Amy, Melinda, and John Russell, whom she loved dearly. Lida worked for Southwestern Bell as an operator in Pittsburg in the 1960s. She left the workforce to raise her children full time, then later working part time in family owned land survey and real estate businesses. Most recently, she was a breeder of German Shepherd dogs, operating Whirling Thunder Kennel. She was well known for her breeding and mentoring in the
GSD arena, and traveled around the US and Europe to Schutzhund trials and competitions. Lida was involved, for many years, with the Children's and Youth ministry program at Victory Life Center in Arcadia and Pittsburg, Kansas, where she provided love to many children during those years. Lida requested her service be held at Brenner's Mortuary, where she lived as a child with her mother, and her aunt and uncle, George and Jessie (Hisle) Brenner, while her dad served in WWII. Lida was loved by many and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank her dear friend, Jacqueline Judd of Owasso, Oklahoma, with whom Lida resided with at the time of her passing.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 29th, at 2 pm at Brenner's Mortuary, with Pastor Don Talent of Open Door Church officiating. The family requests memorial donations be sent to The Lord's Diner in Pittsburg or the SEK Humane Society. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, Kansas.
