Lucille Becker Obituary

Lucille Jane (Lewis) Becker, 75, was born on November 19, 1945, in Bethel, Delaware, to the late Ernest Franklin and Grace (Dickerson) Lewis. She was raised in Delaware. While working on Dover Air Force Base, she met Paul Arthur (Artie) Becker, and they were married on July 17, 1964. She moved to Kansas shortly thereafter, and Artie introduced her to dirt roads and farm life. Ron was born the following year, followed by Paula and Crystal. Lucille was known for her energy and doing whatever needed to be done. She was always doing for others which could be driving trucks on the farm, making breathing treatment tents on the living room floor, completing all the household tasks, driving to endless ball games, concerts, and events, and participating in PTO. Later in life, she enjoyed caring for and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Even though her life centered around her family, Lucille worked at a few jobs through the years including Westco and Dollar General in Columbus and running fireworks tents with Crystal and Paul. She enjoyed visiting, playing softball, doing puzzles, playing marbles, collecting Pillsbury Doughboy and Campbell’s Soup items, and shopping. In the last few years when Paul would drive her, she would say he would rush her while she browsed the aisles. In his defense, he thought two hours in one store was not rushing.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, as well as their three children: Ronald Becker (wife Julie) of Oswego, Paula Becker of Pittsburg, Crystal (husband Jason) also of Pittsburg; seven grandchildren: Justin Becker, (wife Katelyn), Jessica Becker, Sean Becker (wife Jessica), Samantha Buyag (husband James), Ashley Marietta, Allison Marietta, and Matteo Marietta; as well as six great grandchildren and counting, and other family, both by blood and by love. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Ann Thompson, her brother and dear friend, William Frank Lewis, and various other family members.

A special thank you to Paula for spending the last fourteen months caring for our mom in their home. Her willingness to be with her around the clock allowed mom to stay home until the end like she wanted. Also, thankful for caregivers that she loved like family, namely Hope VonSoosten, who kept mom laughing as much as possible these last few months, Heather Baird, who liked to take her out shopping, and Popcorn, her dog companion who laid with her and comforted her until the end.
