Marie Elizabeth (Fornell) Miller

Marie Elizabeth Miller, 96, of Pittsburg, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2026 at her home.

She was born March 10, 1929 in Croweburg, Kansas, the daughter of Pete L. and Elizabeth (Bugni) Fornell. She graduated from Crawford County High School in Cherokee in 1947.

On September 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald P. Miller at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Chicopee, Kansas. They lived in Hutchinson, Kansas from 1952 until 2008, when she moved to Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1997.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Donald R. Miller (Marla) of Hutchinson, KS, Kenneth J. Miller (Tammy) of Tonganoxie, Kansas, and John C. Miller (Kelly) of Emporia, Kansas; a daughter, Karen J. Miller of Olathe, Kansas; a sister, Margaret J. Fornell of Pittsburg; six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 8th) at Brenner Mortuary with Fr. Larry Parker as celebrant. The family will receive friends following until 2:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday (Feb. 9th) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Larry Parker and Fr. Tom Stroot as concelebrants. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and/or the Chicopee Foundation.
