Mary Alberta Williams, 90, of Pittsburg, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg.
She was born September 14, 1931 at Georgetown, Kentucky, the daughter of William “Willie” and Ada (Fluke) Perry. She graduated from high school in Georgetown and then attended Kansas State Teacher’s College (now Pittsburg State University), where she graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology.
On December 9, 1951, she was united in marriage to George Leroy Williams in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They moved to Pittsburg in 1969.
Mrs. Williams taught History at Roosevelt Jr. High in Pittsburg.
Membership was held in PittNaz, where she was involved in many areas of the church.
Survivors include her husband, George Williams of Pittsburg; two daughters, Janet Maloney of Olathe, Kansas and Donna Williams and her husband, Tom Draus) of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren Sean Maloney (Jenna), Laura Maloney (Patrick Westerhaus) and Shannon Maloney; and a great grandson, Henry Maloney.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Perry and William “Billy” Perry.
A service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday (August 13) at PittNaz with Pastor Jim Sukraw and Pastor Adam Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at PittNaz. The family suggests memorials be given to PittNaz in Mary’s memory.
