Mary Margaret (Bowers) Yost

Mary Margaret Yost, 96, of Pittsburg passed away at 12:34 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg.

She was born on October 27, 1929, in Columbus, KS, to Pete and Mildred Bowers.

In April 1948, she married Charles W. Yost. They celebrated 73 years of marriage before he passed away in 2020.

She and her husband ran Yost Realty and Yost Properties for 54 years.

Survivors include her children, Dan Yost (Kathy) of Frisco, Texas, Mary Jeanette Teel (Mark) of Columbus, Kansas, and Cheryl Hutchins (Jay) of Pittsburg;  grandchildren, Lance Hutchins (Madhu), Brian Hutchins (Stacy), Holly Kent (Clayton), Michele Hamilton (Gene), Chad Yost (Mary), Ashley Wight (Avery), Chaise Wyatt (Lennie), Josh Yost (Allison), Julie Yost, and Joey Riss (Jeff); widow of James Yost, Jan Yost; Mary’s caregiver, Virginia Ward; eighteen great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Yost, son James W. Yost, and grandson, Chris Teel.

A Private family memorial service will be held at Brenner Mortuary with Fr. Michael Simone officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to sign the register book at the Brenner Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be given to St. Mary’s Colgan Schools.
