Melinda "Mindy" Jo (Willey) Chase

Melinda “Mindy” Jo Chase 54 of Mulberry Kansas died at 11:30 AM Monday, March 23, 2026, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburg, Kansas surrounded by family.

Mindy was born on December 19, 1971, in Pittsburg, Kansas, and a daughter of Raymond and Lila Willey. She attended Northeast schools and graduated in 1990.

Mindy married Ernie Chase and they later divorced but remained friends. Mindy had numerous jobs throughout her life, including laundry and housekeeping at Arma health and rehab. Her last job at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, Kansas. Mindy currently lived at the Arma Health and Rehab since May 2016 following a car accident in January 2016, she lived there and spent her days playing bingo and living her best life. Mindy always lived life to the fullest.

Mindy was survived by her mother Lila Willey of Mulberry, Kansas; her daughter, Karlee Willey, her fiancé, Brandon Leigh and their daughter Harper Willey of Pittsburg, Kansas, her sister Tammy Wyland and her husband Olin Wyland of Mulberry Ks, her sister Tina Sayre and her husband Steve Sayre of Arma, KS, many nieces and nephews, including Megan Neil and her partner Harley Cooper, as well as her son Weston McClintick and daughter, Heidi Cooper of Arma, Kansas, Kevin Neil and his children Keaton, Kace, and Kambreigh Neil and his partner Trista Kichler of Arma, Kansas, Justin Neil, his wife, McCarly Neil, and their daughter Myla of Arma Kansas. Kelsey Stevens and her husband Austin Stevens as well as their children Allie, Creed, and Montey. Kyle Garret and his Wife Liz and their children Kelly, Aurora, Velicity, and Freya. 

She was proceeded in death by her father Raymond Willey, her sister, Kelly Garrett, her maternal grandmother and grandfather, John and Betty Morris. As well her paternal grandparents, Hallace and  Martha Willey.

She is also survived by her friend Jenn White, care givers, and friends at Arma Health and Rehab. 

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday (March 27) at Brenner Mortuary. A private family burial will take place at a later date in the Sheffield Cemetery, near Arcadia, Kansas. Memorials can be made in her memory for a scholarship for her granddaughter.
