Norma McCaslin Obituary

Norma L. McCaslin, 95, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on August 28, 2021, at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, KS.

She was born January 8, 1926 in Parsons, KS to E.H. and Leah E (Wright) Rouch.

She graduated from Parsons High School in 1944 and was employed at Richmond Music Home and from 1947 through January 1958 at the Interstate Music Company.

On October 22, 1954, she married Donald A. McCaslin in Parsons. They moved to the Pittsburg area in 1956. She was employed at Kansas State College (Pittsburg State University) of Pittsburg as a secretary from 1958 through 1971.

She was a member of the Treble Clef Club of Pittsburg and had served as President, Vice-President and Treasurer. She was a life member of the National Federation of Music Clubs; member of the First United Methodist Church and the Chancel Choir since 1957. She was musically active all her life as she began singing in the adult choir of the W.A.M.E. Church in Parsons at the age of 12. She and her husband Donald, were strong supporters of music and fine arts in the four-state area and also of environmental endeavors.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. McCaslin, two brothers, Ed H. Rouch, Jr. and George B. Rouch.

Internment of remains of both Donald A. and Norma L. will be side by side in the Ft. Scott National Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Chancel Choir at First United Methodist Church, 415 N Pine Pittsburg, KS 66762 and/or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market Wichita, KS 67202. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenner Mortuary, 114 East Fourth Street, Pittsburg, KS.
