Randall Guinn Obituary

Randall Frederick Guinn passed away on April 10, 2026 at The Oaks in Lakewood, WA while in hospice care.

Randall was born in Pittsburg, KS on January 13, 1941. He attended Emerson Elem in Girard, KS before the family moved to Pittsburg for his 6th-8th grade years. A final move to Nevada, Missouri allowed him to attend Nevada High School until his graduation in 1959. After graduation, Randy attended college and worked various jobs before landing the position he loved most, delivering milk & dairy products to local families. That was cut short when he was drafted into the US Army in November 1963, and in 1967 he went to serve in the Vietnam War. Randy went on to serve 20 years, retiring in 1983 with the rank of Sergeant First Class. After his Army retirement, Randy worked in government service, first as a medical records clerk, and later as a clerk in the Judge Advocate General’s office at Madigan Army Medical Center.

Randy had an outgoing personality, striking up conversations with anyone around him wherever he went. He followed the Seattle Mariners baseball and Seahawks’ football. He was an avid gardener and could be found working in his vegetable garden; tending fruit trees in his orchard, and performing various maintenance tasks around his beloved five-acre property in Olympia, WA. In his later years, he required little breaks from his work, and could be found reclined in his rocking chair dozing off in front of a news program with a favorite cat in his lap.

Randall is survived by his third wife, Maria Guinn and their daughter Roberta Kathryn Guinn of Olympia, WA; children from his second marriage Jennifer Kathryn (Guinn) Swanlund of Beaverton, OR, and Timothy Vincent Guinn of Olympia, WA, and a son from his first marriage, Adam Knight of Sydney, Australia. He is also survived by his sister Donna Petty, two nieces, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn Sweet Guinn and Harry Randall Guinn.

Randy was buried with Veteran’s Honors in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS near his parents and other extended family members. The family will hold a Celebration of Life on a future date in the Olympia, WA area, where he spent most of his adult life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of donations to the Soldiers’ Angels Veterans’ Organization. These may be mailed to or left at Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St. Pittsburg, KS 66762.  Friends and family may visit the online guest book at www.brennermortuary.com.
