Richard Hudson Obituary

Richard Allen Hudson, 77, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on January 30, 2023, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.

Richard was born on November 8, 1945, to Melvin and Deloris (Moran) Hudson in Vero Beach, Florida.

He married Rita Shaw on June 4, 1966 in Osawatomie, KS. She survives of the home.

Richard graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1963. He served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1993 working as a Meteorologist. During that time, he and his wife Rita lived in multiple places due to military assignments.

In addition to his wife, Rita, he is survived by his son, Scott Hudson and his wife Jennifer of St. Louis, MO; a sister Marsha Merando of Frontenac, KS; 7 grandchildren, Joe Hudson, Matt Hudson, Mark Hudson, River Hudson, Amanda Hudson, Mika Hudson, and Diamond Hudson; and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and multiple friends around the Globe. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Dee Jay.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3rd, 2023, at 1:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Hyunjin Cho officiating. Private family burial will take place at the Ft Scott National Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS. Memorial donations can be made Angels Among Us, First United Methodist Church, Wounded Warriors, and/or the American Kidney Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
