Richard Earl Simpson, Age 70, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on July 02, 2022, at his home in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Richard was born on July 30, 1951, San Augustine, Texas. He is a 1969 Graduate of San Augustine High School. Richard was drafted in the United States Army in 1970 and received an Honorable Discharge. Basic Training, Fort Polk, LA, AIT Pittsburg, VA, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Sill, OK. Overseas Tours: South Korea and Seoul Korea.
Richard Earl Simpson proudly received the National Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Marksmanship Badge w/M16 Rifle and Hand Grenade.
Richard is survived by his children: Richard A. Simpson (Deno), Christopher Simpson, and Shaun Simpson, DeShanna Simpson and Teresa N. Simpson; two sisters, Cheryl Ann Owens and her husband Robert and Kathy LaFedge White, special Nephews, Rickey T. Duckett, Lufkin, TX, Patrick O. Jackson, San Augustine, TX, and Alex L. Jackson, Retired Navy, San Diego, CA, Jaylon A. White, San Augustine, TX, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
His Mother, Gladys Tanner LaFedge, and Father, Richard Simpson precede him in death. Siblings, Ray Neal Garrett, Leola LaFedge Jones, and Giles Garrett, stepfather, Nalton LaFedge, nephews, Danny Nalton Cerrell LaFedge, and Christopher Darnell Harris, retired Army precede him in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday (July 11) at Brenner Mortuary with Bishop Walter Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery at Fort Scott, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
