Shannon Lane Watson

            Shannon Lane Watson, 52, of Pittsburg, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

          She was born April 24, 1970 at Pittsburg, the daughter of Dennis B. and Carole Ann (Lambert) Watson. She attended elementary schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1988. She received her Bachelors of Science in Education from Pittsburg State University in 1992 and her Masters of Science of Education later.

          Shannon was employed at SEK Interlocal #637 where she taught Pre-School at the Family Resource Center. She was also very active in the Birth to Three program for Southeast Kansas.

          Membership was held in South Broadway Baptist Church and Countryside Christian Church; Alpha Sigma Alpha and Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Pittsburg State University. Shannon was an avid fan of loved to watch KU Basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.

          Survivors include her parents, Dennis and Carole Watson of Pittsburg; a sister, Shay Sievert and her husband, Leo of Pittsburg; her nieces and nephews, whom she adored, Cameron Hale, Lexi Pierson, Jordan York, Austin Sievert, and Zach Dee; and a great niece and nephew, Scarlett Hale and Jackson York.

          She was preceded by a sister, Shelley Lynn Hale.

          A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (December 15) at the South Broadway Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday to sign the register. The family suggests memorials be given to the Family Resource Center.
