Shirley Sybert Obituary

Shirley L. Sybert, 95, of Pittsburg, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Via Christi Village in Pittsburg.

She was born September 24, 1927 at Cherokee, Kansas, the daughter of Oral T. and Anna (Klier) Lane. She graduated from West Mineral High School in May 1944.

On January 1, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Sybert. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1984.

Mrs. Sybert worked for the Prudential Insurance and later for the Census Bureau. She retired in 1989.

Membership was held in the South Broadway Baptist Church; Shirley played softball and lettered in high school. She Volunteered as a Pink Lady at Mt. Carmel Hospital from 1990’s to 2000’s.

Survivors include her daughter, Cyndy Sybert-Medina and her husband, Al of Gardner, Kansas; a granddaughter, Victoria Shanks and husband, Shane of Pittsburg; a brother, Charles Lane of Derby, Kansas; a sister, JoAnn Biancarelli of Cherokee, Kansas; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces  and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers, Jack Lane, Bill Lane, Karl Lane, and Lyman Lane, sisters-in-law, Frances Lane, Virginia Lane, brother-in-law, Louis Biancarelli, nephew, Scott Lane, and niece, Karen (Lane) Thome..

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (May 9) at the South Broadway Baptist Church in Pittsburg with Rev. Dan Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday to sign the register. The family suggests memorials be given to the South Broadway Baptist Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.  Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
