Vernon Wayne Pearson, 86, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away on Wed., June 23, 2021, at his home in Pittsburg.
Vern was born on August 11, 1934, to Donald and Mabel (Whipple) Pearson in Wellsville, Kansas. He attended Baldwin Schools and later graduated from Butler High School in 1952.
He married Betty Dorlene “D.D.” Mitchell on November 15, 1952, in Bentonville, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2002. Vern worked for Butternut Bread Company while living in Butler, Missouri and moved to Pittsburg, Kansas in 1966 and went to work for Prudential Insurance Agency.
Membership was held at the First United Methodist Church. He also belonged to Crestwood Country Club where he enjoyed golf.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Verna Lou (Gary) Smith and Roxanne (Tim) Walker, both of Pittsburg. His very special friend and companion, Carol Carpino of Pittsburg; 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty “D.D” Pearson; a grandchild, Jake Fincher; and a brother, Dayton Pearson.
Funeral services will be on Monday, June 28th, 2021 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jill and Mark Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 27th, 2021 from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS. Memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church and/or Wesley House. The service will be live streamed on brennermortuary.com through Vern's obituary page. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
