William Wintle Obituary

William W. “Bill” Wintle, 90, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on January 17, 2021, at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, Kansas.


Bill was born on November 20, 1930, to Fred and Helen (Raxter) Wintle at Pittsburg, KS. On May 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janie Rezen. She survives of the home.


Bill graduated from College High School. He then attended Pittsburg State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Education.
Bill started his career in education at Hume, MO, and Iola, KS. He was then the Superintendent of Schools in Galesburg, KS. Bill then spent approximately 15 years as Assistant Superintendent for the #101school district. Bill decided to retire from school administration and went back to his fist love of teaching. He taught Business at Erie High School for 10 years. In 1992 he and Janie moved to Pittsburg, KS.

Memberships were held at the First Christian Church, Elks Club, Lions Club, and the Kiwanis Club.


In addition to his wife Janie, he is survived by two sons, Greg Wintle and his wife Bobbie Jo of Topeka, KS, and Doug Wintle of Mountain Home, AR; two sisters, Barbara Pistole of Pittsburg, KS, and Kathy Wintle of Overland Park, KS; six grandchildren, Robert Wintle and his wife Ashley, Luke Wintle, Skyler Wintle, Taigen Wintle, Baylie Wintle, and Delaney Wintle; a great grandchild, Caden Wintle.


He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Carol June Graves.


Service for Mr. Wintle is set for 1:00 p.m., Friday (Jan. 22) at the Brenner Mortuary, with Reverend Pat Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The funeral services will be livestreamed through www.brennermortuary.com on Bill’s obituary page. The family will receive friends from 1 hour prior to the start of the service on Friday. In respect for the family, we are asking everyone to wear face coverings and practice social distancing. The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
