Glenna Pentola Obituary

Glenna Mae Pentola, 97, of Pittsburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at her house.

She was born March 2, 1922 at Pittsburg, the daughter of Melvin O. and Georgia D. (Ogan) Dowty. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1941.

On September 9, 1942, she was united in marriage to Benne Pentola at Lamar, Missouri and making their home in Radley, Kansas. He passed away August 15, 1982, and Mrs. Pentola continued to live in Radley until November 11, 1996, when she moved to Pittsburg.

Mrs. Pentola worked for the Crawford County Treasurer’s Office from 1967 until 1984. She also substituted at the Radley Post Office.

Membership was held in the Christian Church of Girard.; Order of Easter, where she joined in March 1956. Life Member of Girard Electra Chapter; Currently a member of the Rob Morris Chapter OES.

Survivors include two sons, Vincent Pentola (Patricia) of Pittsburg and David Pentola (Tonya) of Carthage, Missouri; two daughters, Janice Evans (John) of Pittsburg and Marsha Palmer (Bob) of Frontenac; eight grandchildren, Adam Pentola, Brad Pentola, Jodi Scearce, Jared Evans, Jessica McDonald, Aaron Palmer, Emily Pentola, and Bryan Woodruff; 15 great-grandchildren, Alex Pentola, Trevor Pentola, Joey Pentola, Anthony Pentola, Sonny Pentola, Hunter Scearce, Averie Hinton, Tavin Evans, Zain Evans, Josie Mae Palmer, Liam Palmer, Annie Palmer, Indie Palmer, Henry McDonald, Benne McDonald and Emersyn Woodruff

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Melvin, Ronald and Dean Dowty, three sisters, Frances McGonagle, Wilma “Kate” Shippy and Louise Martin, and 2 great-granddaughters, Jaylin Evans and Gianna Palmer.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 12), at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Brenner Mortuary. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday to sign the register. The family suggests memorials be given to the Ronald McDonald House of Joplin in memory of her great-granddaughters. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
